More than ever, as tuition continues to grow, families are focused on getting the best value for their dollar. The first step is finding the right information to make the right college choice. U.S. News and World Report and other existing sources may provide useful information, but to some consumers, they are not enough on their own.
The NAICU (National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities) consumer-information initiative U-CAN (University & College Accountability Network) designed a common data format to give prospective students and their families concise, Web-based, consumer-friendly information on the nation's nonprofit, private colleges and universities.
Eckerd is one of 11 Florida institutions and nearly 600 colleges and universities nationwide participating in the U-CAN initiative.
Praised by admission counselors, students, policymakers, and consumer groups, U-CAN consists of hundreds of institutional profiles that contain comparable data and links to qualitative campus information. The profiles are displayed in a common template that was developed by NAICU based on consumer feedback
The in-depth information included in Eckerd's 2-page profile covers admission, enrollment, academics, student demographics, graduation rates, most common fields of study, transfer of credit policy, accreditation, faculty information, class size, tuition and fee trends, price of attendance, financial aid, campus housing, student life, and campus safety.
In June 2007, Eckerd College President Donald R. Eastman III announced that Eckerd would no longer submit data to U.S. News & World Report for its annual college rankings. Read more below:
